- HOW TO DOWNLOAD A FILE
-
- Use the "D" command to download a file, as illustrated in the following
- example. You must know the name of the file you want, as well as the name of
- the directory it is in. Suppose you will download the file THIS.DOC in the
- directory named SUBJECT; then type:
- D SUBJECT\THIS.DOC
-
- Downloading binary files is another problem! If your packet program has the
- YAPP protocol, then follow its instructions. To start the download at the
- BBS, you would use the YD command, as this:
- YD YAPP\COM34.ZIP
-
- If you don't have access to the YAPP protocol, then you will have to use one
- of the file servers like REQFIC (7PLUS format) or REQBIN (R95 format).
- Those servers will transform your binary file to an ASCII format suitable
- for transmission. After receiving this ASCII coded binary file, you will use
- either 7PLUS or R95 to convert it back to binary format. Consult your sysop
- for more info on this way of transferring binary files.
